Audience Choice Winners 2017
In 2013, Audience Choice Awards (ACA) were established for the MainStage Series and What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get (WYSIWYG) Late-Night Series. This festival, we asked you to use the stubs of your tickets to cast your vote on which of the works in each series you thought was best. Last night at the closing party for dance: made in canada 2017, the winners were announced.The 2017 d:mic/fac ACA MainStage Series Award went to Toronto’s Human Body Expression for their work Welcome to Our Home – Tangled, an exploration of a family’s drama, conflicts, and inner workings.The 2017 d:mic/fac ACA WYSIWYG Series Award was given to Lucy Rupert’s work Frankenstein Fragments, in which a literal monster assembles and emerges with a bit of a devilish sense of humour.In addition to the Audience Choice Awards for the dance series, we also asked those who attended the DanceFilms screenings to vote for their favourite. The winner of the 2017 d:mic/fac ACA DanceFilm Award went to Ravages (2015), directed by Alan Lake.Congratulations to the winners of the Audience Choice Awards this year, and a huge thank you to all those who voted!
